Who is the Communication Ecologist

I’m Sofia Mourato, the founder of The Communication Ecologist.

I work with founders and leaders of impact-driven organisations who want to transform their cultures into regenerated ecosystems with a deep alignment of people, purpose and profit.

Using the principles of the Ecological Communication model (inspired by Nonviolent Communication), I equip leaders with the practical dialogue tools necessary to start changing not only their communication but also their way of living.

My career spans a wide range of industries and organisational sizes, from solo entrepreneurs and startups to global companies with up to 20,000 employees.

Alongside my work in communication, I’ve also founded several cultural projects, including international film festivals, and curated events that bring together people from diverse fields to spark creativity and human connection.

I’m especially passionate about working with founders and impact B Corp leaders, helping them align their communication and collaboration strategies with the values and vision they’re bringing into the world. I’ve been fortunate to receive feedback from clients who value my ability to restore trust and connection within teams, empowering them to save time, energy, and resources while staying focused on their core mission.

With an ecological approach to communication, I aim to help leaders create cultures that truly reflect the impact they want to make.

I currently live in Amsterdam, but I work globally, remaining dedicated to fostering creativity, connection, and collaboration through my work in communication, leadership, and cultural programming.

  • Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is a communication model developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg. It consists of four key steps:

    Observation: Describe a situation without judgment.

    Feelings: Express your emotions related to the situation using "I" statements.

    Needs: Identify your unmet needs or values tied to your feelings.

    Requests: Make clear, actionable requests to meet everyone’s needs.
